Measurement Guide

Every item from Bleu Rose Designs is handcrafted, and accurate measurements ensure your new garment fits to perfection! Here are my top tips for taking your measurements:

  1. If you have a friend nearby, grab 'em! They'll make the process easier and faster.
  2. For the most accurate results, take your measurements while standing and use a fabric measuring tape.
  3. You'll get the best measurements when the measuring tape is completely parallel to the floor (this is when your buddy comes in handy). Ideally, you'll want to stand in front of a mirror to make sure the measuring tape is level from the front. If you have a friend with you, ask them to stand at your side and level out the measuring tape in the areas you can't see.
  4. The measuring tape should be comfortable on the body, not tight enough to compress the flesh! IF you are planning to wear a corset or undergarments that change your measurements, it is best to take these measurements with those items already ON!

Different garments require different measurements, this is an overview for them all.

BUST: This measurement is around the fullest part of the bust/breast, not necessarily across the nipples but generally close.

UNDERBUST: This measurement is under the fullest part of the bust, close to the ribcage, usually along the bra line, or where a bra band would sit.

NATURAL WAIST: This measurement is usually around 2 inches above the belly button, where the upper torso becomes the lower torso.  If you are having difficulty knowing where to measure, tie a piece of elastic or string around your torso and bend down a few times, the string will naturally travel towards your natural waist. The natural waist is usually the smallest part of the torso.

HIP: This measurement, also called the "high hip," is along the line where most of us wear pajama pants. Placement does not feel like high waisted jeans and also does not show the buttocks.

FULL HIP: This measurement is taken around the fullest part of the buttocks and hips.

HEIGHT: This measurement is your normal height without shoes.
